Like I said earlier, the brace which makes most difference is in the form of a "Z"; A pair of crossmembers with a diagonal between.
Additional braces straight across, (Like PGGGs pic) don't make best use of the metal. top rails would be helped more by either fitting diagonals between the existing cross-braces, or fitting (Heavy!) sheet-metal corner braces, like the unmodded "Sport" frame I linked to earlier.
Design and placing of braces for a frame is a bit of an art;and I am only an amateur!
