  • general question

Have an xs11, but have no idea of year or make. Seems to have typical 2nd gear problems, but no problem because it's in a dwarf car and fourth is running gear.

    Two questions:

    1) Are there flatslide carbs available or compatible with the xs11? If so, what make or motor is similar?

    2) What about throttle body injection?

The motor has a stumble on the bottom end and clears out after getting up in the RPM band, but the stumble is really bad so obviously, it's not putting out the power it should. Would the intake boots have anything to do with this?

    VIN

Start by getting your serial number from the steering column and comparing it to the XS/XJ 1100 Serial Numbers and Year/Model Table.
edit *Umm, sorry, maybe still have vin on engine case?*

Do a search on replacement carbs, and you sholuld find some information. You can look at the engine number, and compare it to the frame number listings rman talked about. It will give you the year, as the engine and frame numbers matched on the XS11.
The stumble is probably just a dirty pilot circuit, and easily fixed.
