Need Help with '79 Air box assembly

What is the trick in installing the airbox to the carbs? It does not appear to have the room. I did not take it out myself.

    Thanks

Bummer, guess I've been it doing wrong the last couple dozen times.
Seems to be enough room if the bottom half is off.

btw, the "tubes" in the filter box can get turned and will not want to go on easy. Turn em what ever way you need to get em all aligned first, then should go on carbs with out too much effort or force.

        Hey mro,

Is your air intake vent tube thingy still attached? I have two air boxes, one has a sawn off vent tube and that goes in easily with the carbs on, the other one has the intake vent still attached and there's no way it will go on, bottom part removed or not, with the carbs in place.

          Vent tubing

Yes the vent tube is still in place on the air box. It does not look like it comes off. Any suggestions?

            Carbs in place

When it was removed the carbs were attached and have never been removed so how should I go about replacing it without taking the carbs off?

It's much easier to pop off the carbs than to lose skin wrestling the air box in with the carbs on. Removing the airbox with the carbs on takes a lot of force and bending of the intake boots.
These are expensive to replace so I'd suggest removing the carbs before taking the airbox off or re installing it.

Thanks Dan. Is there any trick to installing it after removing the carbs? Can I install the airbox assembeled or do I need to break it down? Here is a link to my airbox:

Just remove the bottom part of the airbox, the part with the filter in it and you will have plenty of room.
