  • Crank Movement

Is there supposed to be any play in the crank? I can grab the rotor of this spare motor and pull back and forth and get slight movement. Is there an acceptable amount or should this be solid?

    Thanks.

    Hey Tod,

I did a quick search for Crank End Play, found these two, one is your old one before your transplant!

A search for Crankshaft End resulted in many more posts, but didn't take the time to read them. Seems like a little end play is normal, but nobody had the specs?

Thanks TC. Yeah, I remember asking the question before, but nobody seemed to have a precise answer at the time. The last time I noticed this, the crank had some up and down movement as well as some end play. This one seems tight except for a little bit of a clunk sideways in and out. I thought maybe another set of eyes may have the answer this time.

        There should be side play

Don't know the spec, but I would expect somewhere around .004" to .007". (HOT)
