Daily Ride when 40% or less chance of rain anytime between April and December. My commute is 90+ miles round trip and she runs swell. I enjoy the ride, but I must also say it is a bit out of necessity since gas prices are so high. My alternative transportation tops out around 22mpg. I would love to get more than the 30mpg I get out of the old girl, but I'm not complaining.

Between the 27 year old bike and 32 year old pickup(bought new), shes pretty well given up. Heck, my lawnmower is damn near a teenager!! That '08 KLR650 is sure lookin mighty purty though.

This is my problem. My 2005 SX 2.0 (Neon) gets well into the 40's per gallon, so the bike is actually a step down!

I was getting 44-45 mpg with the car, then they replaced the short block, so I am back down to the high 30's until the new engine gets broke in.

My Monte Carlo gets about 14mpg on the highway...
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

I almost bought one of those several years ago. One of the guys I work with just bought an '07 a couple months ago. One of those around Colorado and Nevada where you see the dirt roads going off in the distance up the mountains... would be a great bike for exploring. Good gas mileage also. My wife wouldn't have to twist my arm very far at all! lol..

I use mine every time it's not raining but have not as yet gone on any long trips. She's an in town use bike for now. That will change as reliability confidence builds.

You beat me. I don't think I have 3 miles on mine, yet, then I bent the valves, found out the bearings were shot, etc.

My daily commuter ride here. Was able to ride her to work and back though December, Global warming, huh? I'm finding the majority of my riding these days is commuting. I'm finding it more and more difficult to justify fun Sunday touring with the price of gas these days.

There was a thread on sport-touring.net as to whether commuting was really riding.

it's a weekend thing, i can brave the traffic here in los angeles, and split lanes with the best of em', but the concentration to stay alive is too intense, motorcycling should be more leisurely for me, i put the highway pegs back on for a reason, and i need to take this thing out for a real ride, of course afta my clutch and rear tire install.

i believe it is reliable and can go anywhere...thanks to all the help i got here repairing and modding it!

I try to ride my Special about once a week. I ride my other bike the rest of the time, rain or shine, all year round. The Girl and I took the other bike to western North Carolina for vacation two weeks ago, rode our butt's off and had a blast!

I've got 42 traffic lights and stop signs between me and the place that pays the bills, so I don't ride every day, but many a night when I get home from "the Job" I will put in a quick 50 miles. Days I take the cage I usually wish I had the bike.
I actually had a girl I met for the first time last Thursday night ask me why it was important to me to ride, I think our chances of "hookin' up" are pretty slim, duh! I was going to ask her if she enjoyed riding in a convertible, but just took another sip of beer and bit my tongue instead. It's kind of like having to explain a joke to someone, you either get it or you don't.

So... you toss her your spare helmet and walk out to your bike.

Take her for a spin. She will either understand, or she won't.
