  • Adjusting Timing Chain???

I was reading on this site about adjusting the timing chain and I understand where the tensioner is, I would just like to clarify where exactly the "engine case cover over the timing plates" is? Or if someone had a pic that would be great. Thanks

It is the roundish cover, left side, that says Yamaha on it. It has four allen bolts in it for removal. You can reuse the gasket a million times.

Will there be any fluid leakage? Thanks

If there is, than you have much bigger problems than timing.

        Nah, it's dry in there.

If there is oil in there, it COULD mean your crank seal is leaking. You also have a galley plug in that area that leaks sometimes, but no.. it's vented at the bottom and won't hold oil.

            What they mean is no.

(then if you come back later to ask why yours had oil in there, then read the above answers)

              Cam Chain Tensioner

Remove cover . Turn crank clockwise til 'C' is at the mark at 12 o'clock
Loosen locknut on tensioner bolt . Loosen tensioner bolt. Tensioner will reposition itself automatically . Tighten bolt(not too tight) . Tighen locknut (not too tight) . Replace leftside cover. Ride
Did I leave anything out ?
