you might want to pm AlanB or go find him on the UK site. I believe he did this swap.

          Hi Petejw,

Got your PM, and just seen your photos; those look like the 40s I have on my Trike - they have a brass tube on one side, and a rubber link on the other.

If they are the same as those, they are basically too big for the XS.

The carbs do not fit in the boots without stretching, the tops do not clear the tank (they are close to the frame!) And the XS doesn't flow enough to need such big carbs.

If you want to take some sizes, I will check them against mine.

pete, your carbs look real similar to these gsxr 38mm's, different fuel bowls, yours look like they can rig accelerator pumps, not needed if jetted right though, spacing on these ones 85-90-85, XS11 is 78-84-78, so won't fit the XS manifolds, but custom made manifolds you'd be laughing. The XS motor's hangin' out for free flow exhaust and big carbs, becomes a wild uncontrollable monster straining to get let off the leash...

                Hi Pete,

To figure out if you can use 'em, just measure the carb where it fits into the boot at the head; the ones you want are the same outside diameter as the XS carbs, and the spacing between them should be pretty close to being the same as the XS.

If you can get them onto the head, the rest will follow.

This conversion is well worth the trouble; takes 15 years off the XS!

I'm guessing they're 74-88-74, could be tricky to fit em', pete, find out their exact spacing first
