Not the rear axle. It's too big. Any other ideas?

Pulling/splitting the engine

It may be the bolt holding the swingarm. I also remember someone said one of the bolts fit. I have a tool, so I don't need to worry. I'll be taking down an engine in about a month. Time to start on the winter project!!Ray Matteis

I've just always used a cheap pulley puller. Just back the rotor bolt out a few threads and use the top of the bolt to tighten the puller against good and tight.. then give the puller a good whack with a hammer.

I have taken many paperweights off by using a piece of old firehose and a big hammer. The shaft is tapered. Use several layers of the hose on top of the paperweight. Proceed to hit very hard with large hammer it should jar it lose.It usually just pops off. May sure you loosen the bolt first. Using the puller also works. Hammer method seems to work for me.

I already knew it was an M16 fine thread. Unfortunately, my little town doesn't stock a pile of metric bolts.
I tried the axle bolt, it is too big.
I don't see the point of buying a tool, when a 90 cent bolt does the job. Remember the tool is even rarer than the bolt!
I can't find my puller, and we tried a friend's but his would not stay on the rotor, it just kept slipping off.
My rotor is NOT a paperweight. I don't want to damage it. I need it off to get the crank out of the crankcase.Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

When you've tore apart as many as Andreas, and you have those heavy bulky parts that no one ever buys because they don't break or wear out such as a rotor... you'd probably have a different view on them too.. lol. Paperweights, door stops, trot-line weights and rotors are all the same thing to him I'm sure! lol. OK.. as far north as he is, a trot-line is probably not one of the many uses, but you get the idea.

He says as I change a rotor on a CB900!
Apparently the DOHC Honda 4's had weak rotors that were the main cause of charging failure on those.
I assume your saying XS1100s don't have this problem as much?Nice day, if it doesn't rain...
