I had no idea the badge replicas were die-cast material instead of plastic. I ordered a set and they are pretty nice quality.

Ben, watch out for the hole spacing, i had to tap one new hole in each tank flange to fit the badges. They are fairly hefty in weight, so i woudn't use double-sided tape as they suggest.

        their disclaimer:

BadgeReplicas badges are cast from a casting metal, harder than alloy but still slightly flexible. All metal badges are chromed or gold plated, and painted with two-pack enamels or automotive lacquers. These cast metal badges are just slightly smaller than the factory (OEM) badges (due to 1% - 2% shrinkage during cooling of the cast metal). While this is not at all noticeable visually, it does sometimes require that the badges are mounted with other techniques, such as automotive double-sided tape. This ensures a more secure ‘fix’ in any case – you may have noticed that virtually all modern automotive badges are affixed with such tape!

Yeah. I figured out when straight, they align well. When I bent them into a slight curve, it was harder to mount them. I have a little friction on the factory holes and am using the factory clips on the underside.

I didn't know I could get the 79sf side panel badges in chrome. I only see gold on their site. I would rather have had chrome.

Anyone know if the gold ones at the top of this page http://www.mikesxs.net/mikesxs-acces...ategory_id=8.2

will fit an XJ1100J? If so, I am all over them to replace my as they are a bit "old" looking.

              Sorry,

But they are not the same, mounting hole or size, they are smaller than the XS/XJ 11's. However, folks have reported using double sided tape or other attachment techniques.

IIRC, folks have stated that the emblems used for the Yamaha Golf Carts ARE the same size as the XS/XJ11's, and much cheaper.

I went to your link and ordered a set for my XS1100SG, both tank and battery covers. (Badge Replicas in Australia).

I just got them today. The tank emblems are plastic and look really good on my freshly painted tank. The battery cover emblems are metal and solid. They look great too.

I've very happy with them but they weren't exactly cheap at $200 for the set....but it was worth it, I feel.

Thanks for the tip/link. I'll be ordering a second set for my other bike now that I know they are quality and arrive fast.

                      How much?

                      Hi Don,
$200? That's about the price of a set of good tires and you spent it on steenkin' badges? And I thought myself a spendthrift for buying a set of aftermarket stick-on 3TF tank badges at $6 each.

I know, I know. Once I got into restoring these bikes, I guess I went a little nuts in wanting everything the way they were 28 years ago.
