      little more help

order in which I tackel the carbs

      remove and clean
      Replace float needle/seat if needed
Identify and write down jet sizes (I need a magnifying glass to read em)
Set piolt screws to 1 1/2 turns out
      Set float height
Double check float height (check both sides of each float are even)
Bench sync (can use a thin wire as a feeler gauge to get butter fly valves close)
Bench test for leaking (hook up a fuel supply to check float valve(needle) does not leak.
Check that petcocks are not leaking and have good flow when on or run posistion.
Check fuel and vac hose condition.
      Check intake boot condition.
      Check throttle cable.
Slide carb behind cylinders and hook up throttle cable.
Reinstall the carbs (stick em the boots), attach fuel/vacuum hoses
      Hook up filter box etc..
Place fan blowing on front of motor.
      start motor.
      Adjust idle (main idle screw)
      Vac sync carbs
      Adjust pilot screws
      Re-synk carbs

      Test run time

btw, complete job which includes some minor engine cleaning made easy while the carbs are off takes about four hours
