I can't find my shop manual(s) and I've got another speedometer unit that I got for my front wheel...
...since I'm right in the middle of a divorce/living-arrangement-move my shop manuals are no where to be found...
so, my question is:
when pulling the old speedo unit off, installing a "new" one how do you "tighten" the axle?
It's a "basic" question, but I need to know if there are *ANY* idiosyncrasies about WHAT gets tightened FIRST...
Do I tighten the axle nut until the axle is all the way against the "stops" THEN tighten the axle cinch bolt/nut?...
...OR tighten the cinch nut FIRST - THEN the axle nut?...
what's it say in the book?
I'm asking because my XS11 is 80 miles away in a friend's garage; I parked it there and flew to New Mexico for a vacation... now, I'm taking a shuttle to get the bike and ride it back - and I want to put the new speedo unit on BEFORE I ride (I tend to ride WAY too fast and I don't need a speeding ticket...)
