I'm not sure what you mean by 3 inches off to the left but if your lucky they just moved over to the left in the handle bar clamps or the bars are bent?

Bummer, that happened to my first xs when some lady backed into my front end in a parking lot and took off.

My guess - the fork tubes are twisted in the triple tree clamps.

        straight

when the bike is traveling in a straight line the bars are slighlty turned. at first I thought I had bent the bars, but the triple tree is also turned. I don't think the forks are bent as they still function properly. seems like something was knocked out of position when the bike fell, but I'm not sure what to adjust. It drives fine, no wobble even at 80mph. The bars are just always slightly turned.

I would try putting it up on the center stand and sticking a wood block or similar under the engine just big enough to get the weight off the front tire. Loosen the upper and lower triple tree clamps that secure the fork legs. Loosen the upper triple tree nut and pinch bolt. Face the headlight and hold the front wheel stationary between your legs while you gently twist the handlebars to straighten things out. Retighten the the fork leg clamps etc. and you (hopefully) will be good to go.
I have done this before w/ some success.
          Good luck,
          Andy

Also loosen the fender and axle pinch bolt along with the fork brace (if applicable).

Oh yea, I forgot about those. My fault for attempting pre-coffee thought in the morning...
              Thanks Pat.
