BTW, those petcocks posted in the parts for sale won't fit a Standard tank. The Standard and Special petcocks won't interchange because the mounting screw hole spacings are different.

Update

Update, while preparing to do the dremel fix today, I was taking my tank off just in case I decided to flip the bike. I was low enough on fuel that I ran on PRIME into a fuel can until it stopped. I then switched to RES and got nothing out. So, I feel comfortable confirming that on the special at least, PRIME does use the reserve.
