I took the center stand off of my 1982 xj1100 and re-painted it with POR15 rust preventitive paint. everything worked out out fine but now i am trying to put it back on and i cant stretch the spring out enough to hook it to the teo hook up points. anyone know a trick that works for getting this to work? i can really get a screw driver or anything in the area....let me know if you can think of anything. thanks. -Joe

Last time I did it I used a brake tool to pull the spring over the stud on the frame. You know, the old kind of tool that was used with drum brakes.Mike Giroir

Once you un-can a can of worms, the only way to re-can them is with a bigger can.
