  • Ignition module question.

Ok, intrepid gurus, a quick question to try and work out which of the pictured modules may have been tinkered with.

Presumably the cover would have been all set up the same from the factory so one of these has been opened and had the cover put on back to front. If I can work out which one then I know which unit not to put too much trust in.

    Any ideas?

Well...the one on the left looks pretty "hammered" with those broken pieces near the clips.

I suggest you remove the cover and clean any corrosion that might be built up on the board.

Cool, Looks like the right one has been opened. It is a good one though as it runs fine and I don't have any problems with it at all.

The one on the left is my spare and was on an XS1100 that was used as a farm bike. Knobly tires and all. I ripped the cover off it after the photo and the inside is in mint condition. No corrosion or dirt at all. I have had an engine running with it so I know it works but I am trying to work out which unit to put on my third XS to see if it eliminates a stutter and ping winding open the throttle.

          Cheers

Lol, No, not really. Just wanted to work out which one may have been tinkered with. Helps to know the background of swappable items.
