  • VAC INLETS ON CARBS go to?????

Greetings people of higher XS intelligence or is that excess intelligence? I humbly seek guidance to my quandry. It is thus:

I'm wondering where to hook these vacuum inlets on the carbs to? There is no octopus octopi or any other tentacled type critter on this bike. I am using the "Prime" setting for fuel and it seems to work well after the bike is warmed up. cold starting is a beeeyawwtchhh! I currently have the vac lines running from the carbs to the inlets atop the of the air box as I "Think" thats where they were hooked up when the illustrious "shaft" came to live here. comments? suggestions? verbal snares? wot to do's???
    ahhh....springtime in the Rockies brrrrr............

You have an early model standard, so assuming nothing has been changed, here's your line-up:

    - the vacuum nipples on the #1 and #4 intake manifolds can be capped off

    - the vacuum nipple on the #2 intake manifold goes to the small, forward-facing nipple on the left petcock

    - the vacuum nipple on the #3 intake manifold goes to the small, forward-facing nipple on the right petcock

    - the upper "T" nipple between carb #1 and #2 is connected to the nipple on the left side of the upper half of the airbox. This is an atmospheric vent for the float bowls on #1 and #2

    - the upper "T" nipple between carb #3 and #4 is connected to the nipple on the right side of the upper half of the airbox. This is an atmospheric vent for the float bowls on #3 and #4

    - the vacuum nipple on the engine side of the body of carb #2 connects to the line that goes into the vacuum advance mechanism behind the left side engine cover

    - the lower "T" nipples between carb #1 and #2, and between #3 and #4, each connect to a fuel supply nipple on one of the petcocks. I like to cross these over with a slightly longer hose so the right side petcock supplies the left side carbs and vice-versa.
