What kind of mileage?

My stock XS100SH as of the last two fill-ups has gotten 37.89 and 39.59 mpg respectively. These are my first two recorded fill-ups of the season and is after a runthrough of the fuel system with Seafoam. Last season I'd have to say I averaged around 35 mpg. It's not the greatest bike for gas but at least it's better than most cages. Especially my 1997 Ford Exploder that gets 10 mpg.

What kind of mileage are you getting and on what kind of configuration?

That's exactly what I used to get on my SH, fuel light would come on at about 90-95 miles.

XS1100 Fuel Mileage

I have a 79 XS1100F Std w/40K mi and a 80 XS1100G Std w/80K mi. I commuted for two years 60 mi and later 100 mi/day on LA Freeways. Average mileage was 39-40 mpg on both XS11's, most 65-80 MPH.
When the 80 XS1100G was new, it got 44 mpg. When the carbs were first synced by the dealer, mileage fell to 40-41 mpg.
As the years have gone by here in So Calif. and the gasoline has been modified with MTBE and now 10% Ethonal, mileage has gone down with loose of gas BTU.
I have a 83 Virago 920 I also commuted on, with mileage 38-39 mpg. You would think a 920 V Twin would get good mileage, but not the older Virago's.

I was getting 36 to 39 with my '79 F. After the final drive swap, I'm now getting 40 to 43. My first XS1100E, back in '78, would ALWAYS get me 40+ mpg, and I did as much as 53MPG two up on a trip. But then, this WAS in the time of the 55MPH national speed limit.

I used to get 36-38 cruising easy, twisting the throttle alot 30. don't know yet since FD swap.

I was getting 30 MPG, after the final mod I now get 39 MPG, I could get much better mileage, but I DO like to go fast. Before the mod reserve was necessary at 110 miles and out at 135. Now reserve is at 150 and out at 175. Most of my riding on the freeway is between 90 and 100 with occasional spurts of 120 plus. I really do like to go fast and this is the machine for it.

Well, on the bike I ride to school, maby a minimum of 35, max 40. On my garage queen that I only ride on the weekend, maby somewhere between 45-50 mpg. Twice I have gotten over 50mpg. Strange things. With ethanol gas, it is close to impossible to get 45mpg. There are some places where you can by pure gas(no ethanol). When I fill up there on the road combined with a tail wind I have actually achieved just above 50. On regular old city gas around town, mileage sucks.

If running steady around 55 get over 40 mpg

On a recent road trip, my mileage varied. I traveled all the way up A1A from Daytona Beach. My mileage was well into the 40's, close to 50 mpg. After I got "darked on" and moved to the interstate, my fuel economy dropped to 28 mpg.

Fuel economy seems to be directly proportional to how far I rotate the right hand grip in a counterclockwise direction.

My milage after the FD mod has increased from 30 mpg freeway speed to 35 mpg, and when riding on back roads I can now get 40 mpg. When WK and I escorted trbig back to Okie land a couple of weeks ago, we rode mostly back roads on the way up, running about 50 mph, and that's when I got the 40 mpg. Coming back to Texas, we had a very stiff head wind, and were running about 75-80 mph, I only got 25 mpg, but I have a full size windshield on my bike, and that's like pushing a brick through the air.

The last couple of years MIYAMI's been avg around 33 mpg @ 75mph. I did manage to squeeze out around 42 mpg but that's around 50mph and as you all know, almost impossible to do on an XS. I'll find out if the work I did this last winter did any justice.
After a few more bills get paid off, I'll do the final drive swap.
