They're GSXR slingshot carbs alright, float heights 14mm as standard, main jets around #117, pilots #37, if you can match up the XS manifolds they'll make the XS boogie

      Thanks Pggg .

They were leaking and I found the float "trees" o-rings are leaking.
      Bought new o rings ...

Will have to figure how to get the throttle cable lever fixed ...
      Will post as progress...

They will push on the manifolds , the center ones are slightly differant offset . I found out about these from Alan ....

        Hi Underdog57,

I am pretty sure you have seen the pics of mine on the UK site; If I am wrong, I can give you a link. These look very like the carbs I used, but I don't know if looks count!

On my bank, the float-bowl drain screws all piont toward the outside; yours point in. I guess that the left bowls are on the right side, and the rights are on the left. It may not matter, but I think there are some fuel passages in the bowl.

I also had to change my petcocks to gain 8mm fuel outlets and make space for the K&Ns; my bike started out as an SG, so has the "Special" tank.

I have been told that there were very similar carbs used on other Suzukis of the same age (GSX750F Sport/tourer, etc). These apparently flow as well as the slingshots, but not all of the settings are easy to change...... Sorry, but I don't have any details.

If you think I can help with I.D. , just ask; I don't mind checking numbers or sizes.

I don't really want to pull the carbs at the moment to check jetting, but if the motor comes out later in the year, I will note the internal numbers.

Best of luck with your conversion!

Chances are they're jetted too lean for the gas guzzling 2 valve XS motor, Alan could be running 125's or bigger, the XS11 mikuni pilots and main jets are the same swap, but the gixxer pilot jets don't need side holes coz the air jets flow beneath, the swapped lids won't matter, the tricky bowl gaskets sit the same either way, but get em' on & running!! Easy to tell then if they're too lean.

            Hey Alanb and pggg ,

I'll put the bowls where they belong ...

Need to weld or try jb on the throttle barrel tang that broke off.
Thats how they were when I bought them ...

Am playing with the xj carbs now , its coming back from being low miles but carb dead ...

Am waiting on a valve cover gasket , thinking of sealing in to the head and just use grease on the cover so it can be removed .
$20.00 gasket... Wonder if I just use gasket elliminator??
I ran it with the cover off after checked valve gaps , Messy real quick...

One exuaghst was .006" and two int. were .005 .
might just leave it and run it for awhile t, then recheck...

Having idle issues , but think I got it close after readajusting floats
and eye synching the carbs ...Went by the hole near the throttle plate , so the plates were about halfway over the holes ...
It ran , but shut it down with the oil going all over...
            Wont do that again !

Still have ice on the lake hear , but signs of spring/summer are here . Have not owned or ridden eccept for rider saftey class in over 20 years ...
here are pict of the yammy...

Any adivice is great and many thanks for your replys
I have the factory service manuals...Am not afraid to work on mechanical stuff..

On the Pipes , there is a mounting pad near the rear shock
thats has WINNER stamped in ...
They look like they are older Pipes since there is some surface rust ...

                      underdog57,

If you're going to glue the valve cover gasket to anything, glue it to the cover,

                      NOT THE HEAD!

BTW, use a real gasket, gasket elimnator will leak. Don't ask me how I know!

Great to rely on previous experiance!! It get messy quick with the cover on loose too...Kinda pours out . Done dialing in the carbs till the gasket comes in .

                          Alanb ,

Yes I chatted with you before on the UK site .
Have that pair of 34MM off a gsxr we talked about...Those have smaller intake ends and need to be adapted. spacing looked good...just to let you know how that ended up. Have not ran them yet....

On the 36MMM gsxr carbs, I have the same dual filters and am thinking of getting a pingel fuel valve ...Its a special tank and I'd like to know how long the valve can be and fit??
Not sure when I'll get to it , but I can still get the valve ordered ahead of time>>
                          Thanks

                            Hi Underdog,

It is not easy to measure accurately without stripping it all down, but it looks like I have about 40mm from the top of the K&N to the petcock mount on the SG tank. This only leaves about 4mm between my Kawasaki taps and the filters; there was more space at rest before I fitted the solid mounts, but if I spun the back tyre, I always knocked the filters clean off.

                              Hi Alan

I'll look into a pingel , dont care about reserve ....
That gives a good idea on clearance...
                              Thanks again !

I'm trying to get my xj carbs working then would like to give the 36MM a try ....I do want petcocks as the stock ones leak...

So far I can get the idle down to 1000 rpms(stock carb) , but it surges to 2500-3000 . And does that contiually...
Have not synced yet , just by eye....will keep at it...
