    Hi Underdog,

Glad to help; If you have problems with RPM surging, I would have a good look for inlet air leaks. Badly cracked boots can do it, but either the plugs for Vac gauges on top of the boots, or somewhere around the vac advance line is a lot more likely.

    Hope you sort it!

If it ain't broke, modify it!

Here's a bit of jetting info from the ZRX 36mm carbs on my XS1196, probably similar situation with the gixxer carbs,

Original stock settings- 95 main jets(very stifled as stock), 35 pilot jets, 18mm floats, fixed slide needles, idle screws 2 1/2 turns. Symptoms on the XS motor - cold blooded on startup, slight flutter at a constant 2100 revs. Had to set the screws at 4 turns, and raising the needles +1mm cured the flutter, but still not perfect.

Final settings - 140 main jets, 38 pilot jets, (keihin jets) needles +1mm, floats still 18mm, idle screws back to 2 - 3 turns out. Symptoms on the XS motor - nicely warm blooded when cold, mega power at all revs, plugs reading perfect at idle/midrange/highrange
