I have an 81H frame, and the grab bar from a 80-81 MNS, and it fits the shock mounts up front. On the frame, there is a hole just above and slightly to the rear of the rear turn signal mounting holes in the rear frame support rails, and thats where the grab bar will bolt to. You may need some spacers and such, but should be able to bolt it up. If not directly, with some additional simple brackets would be easy to add!

The rear mount for "grab bar"/turn signals are different between special/standard.
On special it's higher and a tad forward and the distance between each side is narrower.
Could make a bracket to make up differences...
but would test it throughly. Someone hanging on to it would have a very unpleasant surprise should it come loose while on the road.
