I wonder why the resale value of the xs1100 is so low ? Since i bought mine i have bought two others for parts bikes and know where i can get another 11 standard dirt cheap . I was a kawasaki KZ fan until i started liking the xs650 . A decent Z1 is worth 2-3 times the price of an 11 maybe more with the original pipes. After riding the 11 i like it alot just can't figure out why there so cheap.

There's still too many around and the parts are still not too hard to find. I keep telling my Daughter that when I pass away in 30 some odd years :-) she MUST keep my bikes because by then they will be TRULY rare.

Yes .... there was a LOT OF THEM SOLD world wide ... SO ... until the bulk of them are melted down for the metal content we must live with the current value. This is why I buy up maintenance parts now for future use. Things like clutch plates, oil filters and what not. I'm in it for the LONG HAUL LOL LOL. Can you see me now at about 70 years old still racing around on an XS11 .. I can

He gets around pretty good. I was shocked when I found out how old he is. I figured mid to late 70's. Yes, I agree he was probably where we are now. Kind of cool i think. It helps to keep us young.1979 XS1100F (runnin the wheels off it)

Re: Resale Value
it was over produced

Yamaha gave a try at building a heavy strong 1100cc bike in 1978 called the XS but the frame, weight and huge engine didn’t do wonders for the handling and the bike never became popular.

That's just a "blog" and is not an official information site. It would be interesting to know how many XS1100 bike in various styles were sold worldwide. Too bad the bike was introduced at a time when motorcycling took a downturn in popularity.

Bet he never rode one! When I got on my new SG in 1980 it sure was popular with me and my buddy when we picked them up at the dealer. And if it never became popular how come there are over 2000 members on this site after the bike has been out of production for 25 years?wingnut

As far as I'm concerned, the regular Eleven is superior to the Special in terms, of being a restful place to ride. That makes the Special accessories on this bike as appropriate as a sissy bar on a Peterbilt. - Michael Jordan

over produced
I know there were alot made but there were just as many kz 1000's and xs650's and they hold there value real well . As a matter of fact the xs650 was yamahas biggest seller ever . I have seen fine examples of them go through the roof . i'm not knocking the 11 i think its just as good as the others maybe better in some ways i just wish i had looked around before i bought mine i could have bought one alot cheaper and would'nt have to drive to Dallas to get it.
