The correct answer is E. Especially when coupled with the fact that I spent two hours last night replacing the headlight bucket that he broke when he dropped the bike a couple days ago. I didn't get mad at that. He's a novice rider and stuff does happen. Running out of oil because you haven't checked it in weeks is another thing entirely. I completely rebuilt that engine. New bearings, seals, rings etc. It was a first pop starter and a very quick little buzzbomb.

I have another low mileage engine in a parts bike, but that's going to kill a weekend day.

As for the XS, I mounted the new carb holders tonight after work and hauling my 400 home in the back of my truck. I'm tired . I won't know for sure until tomorrow night whether this solves my remaining problems. This, however, sends the jury back out for further deliberations when it comes to Saturday. I still haven't done a good thorough shakedown ride, but I would like very much to come.

i think it is a hypothetical question, i think if there was and event that would snap it off the whole bank of carbs woulf go and you wouldn't run,
but to be a good sport and play along, and asssuming the plumbing is for a stock standard, i think the offending cylinder may siphon enough air to render a petcock closed and that pair of carbs will not run and you will be on 2 cylinders,
