  • anybody looking for parts for a 1980 XS1100 LG (Midnight Special)?

'bought one a while back that had a "second gear problem".
'was going to register it "non-op" at the DMV...

...because the bike hadn't been registered for ~6 years I was informed I'd have to pay ALL the "back registration fees", which was about $600...

I have a 1980 SG that needed an exhaust system and front end, because of an accident 3 years ago... so those parts are "gone". ...the rest of the bike is going to be *completely* disassembled and parted out - sometime in March. I've started a webpage to put the parts list and prices: http://www.unclespot.com/80XS11LG.html

I'm going to give the XS11 forum 1st crack at it before it goes to eBay.

...I'd love to keep this bike, get it going, and have TWO 1980 XS11s but I'll be going thru a divorce within the next couple of months and 'won't have the money, time, or parking space for 2 bikes...

    XSive regards,
    Ron (Uncle Spot)

How are the handlebars? If they are good, I'd like first dibs on them, and the fenders and side covers too.

What kind of condition is the seat pan in? I could really stand to get a better one. If it's good, I'll take the seat.

Sorry to hear about your situation, but it brings to mind an old saying.....

You know why divorce is so expensive? Because it's worth it!!!

I hope you find that is the case. Good luck.

              ok... fotos have been taken...

they'll be up on the webpage this afternoon:
              http://www.unclespot.com/80XS11LG.html

I thought I'd respond here to some of the e-mails/phone calls I've gotten:

Confish04 - the carb intake boots are in pretty good shape (actually better than on my SG...)

John - handle bars, and fenders in real condition (chk the fotos)
...the side covers: one does not have the emblem...

dewibp - 'found the headlight bucket, 'couldn't find the ears
the gas tank has some paint worn off back where the seat has been rubbing on it, and the gas cap lock has fallen apart. But on the good side the tank is in MUCH better shape than on my SG (so if it doesn't sell it'll go on my bike...)
The Grab Bar is in real good shape - no gold worn off.
I have the rear turn signals but I have a Vetter QuickSilver on the bike so the front turn signals come off the fairing...
The Generator Cover is scraped up on the bottom (see foto)

Jim Nichols - the octopus valve is on the bike and it did work fine the last time the bike was running

Flesh - the saddlebags (and brackets) need some cleaning - check out the fotos...

JWSanders - the seat pan is in great shape - the covering is NOT (that's why it's so cheap)
AND I'M GONNA MAKE A T-SHIRT FROM YOUR SAYING:
"You know why divorce is so expensive? Because it's worth it!!!"
              (I like THAT a LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

              the fotos should be up on the webpage in a couple of hours;
I will have a "click HERE for foto" in the box if there is a foto for that item...

thanks for helping me come up with some "fix-the-house-so-the-soon-to-be-EX-can-get-her-half" money...
              XSive regards,
              Ron (Uncle Spot)
