  • high oil pressure problem

    Hi Folks,
I've just been called by a friend of mine with a strange problem. He has a 2H9 engine rebuild after an accident at an engine repair shop. Now here it comes. After refrehsing oil and replacing a new rubber gasket from the oilfilter he was doing app. 60 miles full speed on a highway no problems. The next day with cold engine after 50 yards the oilfilter gaskett gets blown out. Replacing everything, test the engine for 2 h in the shop no problem. Cooling down again and start the engine same **** happens again. Now tell me whats going on???????

Already swapped complete oilcooler system, incl. hoses, high pressure switch in adaptor plate (2H9-13461-00) didn't solve the problem. Everything reachable without demount hte engine was blown throughh with high pressure air. Engine breather etc is clear. Compressions cil 1+4 10bar, 2+3 9bar, Total running miles app. 45k.

Any suggestions? Like to hear from the experts :-)

Sounds like a clogged or non-existent crank-case vent!

OK guys... the rubber plug on the right back side of the cyl head/valve cover is leaking oil... when warmed up quite a lot.
So, the bike has pressure, but that's a bit weird.
I sealed it with loctite, made the new valvecover gasket, so I don't know why the leak. Sure, it happens sometimes, but... hmm... on kawa I was lucky if all the stuff in the head was barely lubricated.

AFAIK the oil pump collects oil from the pan, it goes through the filter, cooler, then to the crankshaft bearings/crankshaft from there to rods. Other line goes to cam bearings/camshafts and then returns to the oil pan via camchain opening.
Gearbox is partly submerged in oil and lubricates itself... sortof. There is an oil line going to the back, goes somewhere on the left side near the gear shifter, lubricates the secondary shaft and gearbox bearings.

      Correct me if I'm wrong.

PS: Gearshifting on my bike is hell. Could be that the clutch won't fully release. Dunno why yet, but since I only did 300m, it might need a bit of running-in. Maybe it's just fried.

        Hey there XSBobo,
I'm no expert, especially when it comes to the oil cooler adapters and such, but have a thought. The oil filter case bolt, is it slightly stripped?? Could it be that it is tight when first assembled, then engine run, and with the expansion of the heat, the bolt gets loosened, releasing the tension on the oil filter cover, thereby allowing the cover and case to slightly separate, letting the gasket get squeezed out/by the "normal" oil pressures?!?! Also, when you put the bolt back in, there is a little rubber washer around the head of the bolt, is the bolt really seating when it's being tightened on? If it's not, it could seem tight, then when the filter case finally does slide down and fully seats against the head of the bolt over/past the rubber O-ring, you now have a gap at the cover mating surface.....?????Far off ideas, but I doubt that it's from "TOO MUCH" pressure, unless the high pressure valve that you say was replaced was defective to begin with.??? Good luck.

            oil pressure

did you have the oil pump apart?if so,when it was reassembled the oil pressure relief valve can be installed back into the pump backwards and still fit!been there, done that!!!the sympton of this IS to have the oil filter "O" ring blow out.
