  • Crankshaft end float

Does anyone know whether I should worry about end float on the crank of my 11? If I pull and push the rotor under the left hand engine cover I can get a distinct clunk from what I assume is crank end float. Is this a problem? What will it end up doing to my engine?

mine does it too, and the motor runs great. I don't know what the spec is supposed to be.

As per Yama manual, the #4 main bearing provides crankshaft side thrust. Does not have a specification for "side to side" play tho.

Checked Clymer book too, side thrust info N/A.

If thrust bearing oil clearance is good on the crank, guess side/side good too

        Crank end float

Thanks. I wonder if anyone knows of a critical figure beyong which the thrust bearing needs replacing? I can't find that anywhere!

Mine manages to 'clunk' with 0.17mm side play. I guess on a car this would be critical but I've no idea about whether it is on a bike as clutch thrust isn't an issue.
