...... causing your fork legs to move up and down together instead of (slightly independantly). The independant movement causes wheel deflection side to side. The fork brace helps to eliminate this.

......stiffens up the front end, like our front fender does, but doesn't block water or dirt.

Why is a brace better than the big metal fender that we have up front?

Edgo, that front fender is much thinner and does flex quite a bit. The XJ's fender was made much thicker and does work like a FB, but the XS's are too thin to really provide much antiflex action without the extra FB!

The forces exerted on the big metal fender are huge, and they will flex. A fork brace keeps everthing in line and working together. I installed one years ago and all I can say is it works. Between a fork brace and new fork springs (which I don,t have yet) handling AND straight line stabilty at sublight speeds is vastly improved. My high speed weave thru long sweepers was noticeably absent after the brace install, (or should I say the weave did not show up till much higher speeds). This springs project (no pun) is new fork springs and rear shocks. Then I am really gonna hunt me some sport bikes on the weekends.

Like tonight, a little blast above 110 mph, cut over to other lane to pass, hit minor pot holes and front shimmy some.
