    Yep, Caveat Emptor

The midnight spec i bought 6 mos ago was from a guy that has a shop, and he stood behind it. He even took it back and put new needles, and seats in the carbs, a new rear tire, and did a valve adj prior to my final pruchase of $1700 swapping hands. It sounds as though you have made up your mind, already, and if so good luck. The state DMV should be able to run down the last reg, and then it will be apparent if something is amiss. Check all three places for the VIN, manufactuer's label, steering head, and engine for matches in numbers as well...like the man said. Caveat Emptor. If you want the bike, happy motoring. These are great old bikes, only made for a few years, and have those associated issues. I enjoy it more that my old cb750f, kz900, and cbx. I love not having to mess with a chain. It performs well, and will run with 8/10ths of what is out there now. It is a classic Japanese bike, and the specials their first time manufacturing custom style crusiers. What else can be said?
