  • special vs. standard muffler brackets

it may have been asked before but i can't find it.
question is, will a special foot pegs bracket bolt right up to a standard frame? that way i can sweep the slip on's up instead of straight back, when the time comes... and thanks for the help as always

Nope. They won't swap. The right side will not bolt up because of the location of the rear brake pivot hole in relationship to the front footpegs/engine mount hole. I tried to fit the brackets from a 78E onto my 80SG and that is what I found.

i'm not giving up yet, john, thanks for the bad news, so i guess the left will fit right?

and your saying the measurment from the rear brake lever pivot centerline, to front peg mounting bolt center line is different than the standards,

or are you saying that all the holes are in the wrong place , can i leave a bolt out, cause the specail bracket looks like there is an extra bolt right behind the pivot hole and the standard does not.

how about a little butchering? any chance?

It is the distance between the two holes mentioned that is off, and there is no way to make it work, short of making a new bracket with the correct dimensions, on a CNC machine. I tried the right side first, and when it didn't fit, I never tried the left side.
