  • Low rpm engine hesitation

I have a light hesitation on my 80 G model. after warmup it seems to be gone. Do I have a problem with:
    Carb sync?
    old plugs?
    other??
Have not changed the plugs and am getting about 40 mgp around town and road. Appreciate any assistance. Thanks

It could be the plugs are out a little larger than spec. on the gap, and or the pilot jet is just a little lean until the bike warms up. The plugs are the easy "first fix", so I would start there.

These beasts seem to be cold blooded. Checking and fixin, if needed, old plugs, carb sync, ect would be a good place to start. Could even be a low battery. I know when I ride mine around in town for a week, I can never get the battery to fully charge so I will stick it on the maintenance charger a couple times a week. Of course,on weekends, a nice 2hr ride at speed in the morning is THE BEST way to charge a battery.

Thanks to both of you for the info. Will start with the plugs.

FWIW. I had an issue where I had a hesitation around 2.5K to 3K rpm. I chased it around until I found that the two caps on the vacuum ports on cylinders 1 and 4 had hardened to the point that they weren't completely sealing the ports. I replaced those caps and the problem went away...

Thanks for the vacuum tip. Had not thought of that.
