  • OK, I am going to my mailbox to see what is up. Geez, I thought I had been emptying it on a regular basis. Maximan, if you can get bronze at Ace, that is most convenient to me. Thanks for the offer to the group though.

      • Just got my 750 FD today. I hope to do the mod sometime in the next few weeks. It looks too easy to not try it.

Taming the beast a hair would be OK with me. There's plenty to tame. I doubt it will have much effect on the "Oh sh*t!!! Feeling I get when I crank on the throttle. It suprises me everytime. Damn thing is fast!

        • Have you people been using Yamabond 4 or such when reattaching the final drive or just bolting it right up clean.

              • 7\8 bushing?

I took my drive shaft out last night after buying a 3\4 id bushing & the od of the splines are 7\8,has anybody else had this problem.I would like to say what a great forum this is since I am new to it & I have always wondered if there was a way to lower the rpms but didn`t have the knowledge to do it.Great Thread

                • The bushing I used was a bronze fitting for a 3/4" copper pipe. The bronze end slips OVER the pipe, and is the correct I.D. I then used a saw to cut the length, and filed the cut so it was clean.

                        • okay my fd came today and the seller ripped the vent cap trying to empty the thing, she turn it over to drain at first but that was a month ago and the usps, made her pick it up and would not ship it since it was leaking all over the place.

okay any experience on fixing that or a refund to me is in order

                          help and thanks gents....

if you got it cheap and it turns correctly, KEEP IT. I put a stainless measuring cup(perfect size) over the pyramid shaped vent pole and went about my business....I sold that thing to someone here. I am sure it's still there if he didn't pull it off to chrome the whole FD.....

                            • thanks buddy, yeah it cost her 49 bucks to ship priority and it cost me 58 total, and it's got 17k miles and very clean looking, the thing is i don't know what a measuring cup that size is though

                              • You could get a 1/2 inch copper pipe cap, drill a 1/8 hole in it, and one in the tapered vent where the original cap was, and just rivet it together. That is what I was going to do before I decided to rob a vent assembly from an old final drive. Then just paint it "Any Colour You Like"
