The only thing I would be concerned with flipping the axel would be the pinion seal and the axel seals. On some axels they are really bad about leaking. If you look at the axel you can see that right side up it's made to hold more oil in the sump. If you flip it then most of the oil will be in the top side and it would put more oil on the pinion seal and the axel seals as well. You don't want to have a bunch of leaks. That would take out of ride time. There should be a axel out there that turns clockwise. You may call a axel shop or a junk yard that sells axels. They may be able to help you. Or at least tell you what axel to look for. If you do flip the axel just swap the brakes backing plates or you may be able just rotate them up. You would have one hard time bleeding brakes other wise. If you go this route you may take advantage of replacing all the seals and check the axel bearings.

Heres another thought. What about those goldwing trikes. Wasn't the goldwing shaft drive? Or did they have the shaft drive turn counter clockwise. With all the goldwing trikes I have seen here lately you would think there would be a conversion set up out there.

If you build it. Others will too.

Good think he only needs to flip that thing upside-down once a year to check the final drive fluid level...
