  • Cylinder head spec sheet

    Hey,
Im currently remanufacturing a head for my friends bike.
Basically I'm going to clean it, test all the parts, replace the bad ones, regrind the valves, and cams, resurface it ,and then give er a 3 angle valve job.

What I need to know is,can anyone hook me up with the high and low limit specs for this head?

    It's a 79 xs1100

Things I need to know before I start.

    installed valve height
    valve to piston clearance
    guide play
    recommended combined seat runout
    safe limit spring tension
recommended RA for the deck surface finish

Any info will help......I generally do auto and industrial engines, and all the manuals I have are for these applications.
I have all winter to complete the project but would like to get started.

    Thanx =]

      Very good thx

What's really important is the installed valve stem height.
The tips will need to be ground down to achieve the correct spring tension and valve lift, due to seat depth variance.
Dont wanna smack into the pistons the first time around he he.

But this does help somewhat ,so thank you.

Valve adjust: if you haven't a clue what shims to use, I'd start with a 230 and measure to find correct one. Have yet to see an installed one smaller than 240 and most common are 260 to 285 with a few going to 300.
