  • driveshaft boot replacement

Just noticed that the rubber boot on the driveshaft is cracked. What is the common way of replacing it. It appears to be similar to a CV joint boot wondering if any driveline shop could replace it.

    Hey Crew,

It's no where near that complicated, it's just a dust/water cover, no oil or grease inside there! There are 2 spring style clips that hold it onto the middle gear and the swingarm, just unhook those, and pull it off away. The trick is you will need to unbolt the Ujoint from the Middle Gear to get it off and to put a new one on. You may be able to clean it up, and seal it with some Plastidip rubber coating, or other sealant of your choice!

Okay so the internals are dry. That was one concern is that they wouldn't be getting lubed with the boot torn. Is there a specific place to purchase a replacement? The one I have is too bhard to expect a repair to last for long.

I have 2 boots to replace on my two bikes. Got them from Bike Bandit ($36 each IIRC).
I'm hoping they're not too difficult to replace.
Remove rear wheel and rear drive, slide driveshaft rearward a bit, remove/replace boot, put it all back together?
On the triple site someone mentioned removing all the motor mount bolts but one and tilting the engine in the frame to get the boot out.
Mine will be done when I do the 2nd gear fix (E) and the big bore kit (LG).
