Look for sodium carbonate at your local pool supply store. Genrally most PH+ products are actually sodium carbonate( washing soda)

It is actually hard to find. I use the Arm & Hammer laundry soap, but it is not the best one. I found it at Super K-Mart. Just make sure of the ingredients for what you get. Good Luck.1979 XS1100F (runnin the wheels off it)

Cleaning gas tanks
Ok
This may draw some scowls and jeers but it works.
Remove the sending unit, petcock(s) etc.
Add adout 1/4 gallon water and dish soap and.....
gravel.
Shake the ever luvvin you know what out of it.
When you have shaken it enough, shake it some more.
Cleanup is reverse, then hose it out, pour in about a cup of WD40, shake.
Dump that, add a pint of gas, shake and dump. Repeat until it comes out clean.
It's rude and crude but it works.
Use small pea gravel or shot. The idea is to get some abrasive in there to scour the mung off.
No nasty chemicals to ruin the paint either.
I have done this with excellent results.
YMMV, use inline filters.

Whatever you do, do not put large dense objects in your tank to shake. They will most definitaley dent the tank or the inverse.United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY
If I can do it at 18 yrs old, anyone can

Well I was never able to find the Arm&Hammer Super Washing Soda. But with your all's help I did get the PH+ that is 100%Sodium Carbonate. I plan on starting it this weekend. I'll take some before, during and after pics to show everyone. So I guess in 3 or 4 days I should see some results. I got the PH+ from the local pool store for $3.99 for a 2lbs bottle. Not a bad price. Thank you all for the help. I'll post back in a few days with results.Chris

Rock-on!!!
Rocks and water does work well to remove the scale and knock down most of the rust. It is a good place to start and will help the process along should you follow with the chemical treatment. Dime sized rocks are all I have used nothing that could produce a dent. I put about 20 of them in the tank with some water and then shake every possible direction. Then put the garden hose in the filler and let the water run until clear. It will remove alot of stuff, you will see all kinds of junk floating out of the tank.Dan ( A.K.A.- MacGyver )
