best fuel line to use

hey i have been given everything from rubber to tygon tubing. what is the best fuel line to use?

I've been using plain old rubber quarter inch fuel lines w/inline filters.

Just make em long enough not to kink.

I have been using plain rubber also with no problems. And, they are less expensive. I did have Urethane lines on for awhile but after a year or so they got brittle and they changed from nice translucent blue to gasoline color.

I REALLY like the neoprene type line. It is very easy to get on and off the nipples (no matter how long it has been on there), yet stays on and sealed without hose claps. So far it seems to be holding up really well too.

.. i use the same type that 81sxproject uses except i use zip ties for clamps to make sure the hoses dont come off.
as far as best, i dont think there is a best, i think it is more of a preference than anything. rubber is rubber, i havent found one to be any better than the other.

If you have a Tractor Supply Center (TSC) near by they sell Goodyear brand rubber fuel line. It is very flexable and easy to work with. I like it!!! I usually buy it by the roll to save money! I always seem to have plenty of projects to use it up

I have never heard of tygon hose until this post and now I see several references to it. What is tygon hose??? What makes it better than other hoses???

well, I won't go into the chemistry, however this new formulation is extremely U.V. resistant... I have 50 ft left of it that I ordered to fit the xs11 fuel and carb nipples...

I use tygon for my gas radio controlled airplane engines. It seems to work well. Personally, Ace hardware has a good fuel line. It has a nice inner and outer diameter. It is not bulky like automotive line. It is pretty soft so you can put it on and pull it off easily, though it will stay on without a clamp. I don't have the numbers for it, but if your interested, go to Ace and look for their selection of fuel hose. I have seen it at most of the stores.

I don't know what kind of rubber they're made of but I went to the boat dealer and bought some marine fuel line. Cut it to length, works just fine. Kinda spendy though.

thanks guys I just wanted to let everyone know that i bought a new bike. Suzuki VS 1400, traded my xs for it. Man, it runs like a dream. Thank you everyone that helped me and made suggestions over the last 4 years of work with my xs. Ya'll are trully tops .... See Ya On the Road

New bike

I bought a 2005 Suzuki Boulevard C90T(1500cc). It is a nice bike but I still kept my Xs1100. The large displacement V-twins are nice but don't match the power of the Xs1100 when it comes time to do some ripping around town. For your basic white knuckle hell run you can't beat the Xs1100
