    Drilling the baffles

I have searched the posts about removing the baffles. Found some interesting stuff. Unfortunatly i haven't been able to find any instructions on where exactly i should drill them out. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated. I have an 80xs1100sg.

    Hey Werleje,

I believe we are mostly talking about the large flat flange end that the baffles are mounted into. We drill holes in the end plate AROUND the baffle, not necessarily directly into the baffle tube itself! Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info, thats what i was thinking, just wanted to make sure before I started drilling, i was thinking 4 3/4" hole evenly spaced in the plate should work.

You might want to try smaller holes first, and then test the sound. That way you can "tune" it by increasing the hole sizes without necessarily going too big too soon! Just a suggestion!

When I had my 4-1 exhaust I drilled 4 1/4" holes and it made it quit a bit louder and lower toned. I would definetly start small and try it first as T.C. said.

Heres a pic of mine after drilling.

On the stock 78, I drilled 4 1/4" holes, 90 degrees apart, on the flat end plate of each muffler. The sound was just a little louder, and I had a little more at the top end.

                  Hello,

I am at 4 - 5/8ths holes per muffler, that size got rid of the tiny sound
