emulsion tubes

Hi guys, I just got in a 80 xs carb. The emulsion tubes
(all 4) appear to be 78-79. You know the ones with 16 holes. Has anyone ever seen this or tryed these in an 80 carb? The mains are 110. Any ideas?

OK. I take it nobody has come across this either. Well...how about if some of you just guess !!! Do you think it will work?? Yes...No...maybe??? I'll try it and see.
If it doesn't work, does anyone have some emulsion tubes for an 80 to sell? Thanks Red Bandit

This has some imfo . I bet you saw this already ?
Sounds like your jets will be more lean , and you might be able to compensate with needle valve height...only a guess ..
cant hurt to try ???

Red Bandit,

You can purchase both the emulsion tubes and needle jets from MikesXS - Part #48-0660 and #48-0661 respectively.

Although I have never tried this setup, I suspect the change in your emulsion tubes was to accomodate the adjustable needle jet from the earlier style carbs vs the non-adjustable jet from the later '80-'81 style?

You may have the factory carbs on the bike. Yamaha made changes, but they would "use up" old stock first. IF you have an early production '80, it could be running the '79 carbs, or parts thereof. I would just clean everything up, replace the needle and seat on the inlets, and see how it tunes.
