  • Oil Change

I just changed the oil and I can't remember if the two tabs on the oil filter face the front or the rear. I tried looking it up but could not find anything. Thanks

That figures. Will it hurt anything if it is not towards the rear? I don't see why it would matter.

Shouldn't hurt anything. Those of use who have oil coolers have an adaptor plate that moves the filter cup away from the engine, and we have to guess if we have the cooling fins aligned with those on the oil pan.

OK Thanks a lot. The only thing is that my oil light stays on all the time now. I don't know if this has anything to do with that or not.

I wouldn't run it that way. It only takes 2 pounds of oil pressure to turn off the light and it is not likely that the switch append to failed at the same time you changed the oil.

I guess I will drain it and turn it around. The light has always come on before but just not as soon. It also would come on then go back off but never just came on and stayed on. So to ease my mind I will turn it around. Thanks for the help.

                  Low pressure

Happy, if that was mine I'd be finding a way to hook up a direct reading oil pressure gage and make sure I have oil pressure. You can get a cheep gage at the auto parts store and some fittings. rather safe than

Wingnut that sounds like a very good suggestion. I will do that. Thanks. I did take a 600 mi trip last year with the oil light coming on. The Guy I bought it from 3 years ago said it always stays on. It just bothers me.

.. it sounds like to me that it might be the ol circlip fell off of the oil gear trick again.
.. or maybe just the oil sending unit is a little gummed up.
thats an easy one, just remove the unit and clean it out real good with break cleaner. if you are a smart guy with tools you can figure out how to test your unit
