  • Extremely tight clutch cable

I put a new clutch cable on and it's really tight. The tension bolt at the lever end is all the way in providing as much "slack" as possible. It's so tight that after an hour in rush hour i can barely pull it in to shift. Can the arm connecting the cable to the clutch be shifted to allow more slack?

PS. granted the cable could probably use some lube, but i really don't think that's the problem. There's no slack when applying the lever and the lever springs back really hard with a good WHACK.

I did the same exact thing. Even removed the adjuster part of the cable for some slack. That was before I learned there is a primary adustment down on the clutch cover. Just remove the 2 screws that hold the round cover on and loosen the 12 or 14 mm locknut and back the screw bolt out. There is actually a tech tip about it. Do that then adjust at the lever.
