  • Bread tie syncronization

I just tried the bread-tie sync on my carbs and also readjusted the idle screws. After syncronizing I set the main adjustment screw back to where it was (I had counted the number of revolutions after marking the postion). The idle screws were seated and then backed out about 1.5 turns.

Now the bike doesn't idle nearly as well as it used to and without the choke open idles around 800 rpm. Would I be correct in thinking that is related to the idle screws and not the carb sync?

    Adjusted idle mixture screws

I just opened up the idle mixture screws to what I believe to be a full 3 turns. It seems to idle a little bit better.

Should I be adjusting the main idle adjustment screw instead?

      Main idle adjustment screw

I opened up the idle mixture screw to 3.5 turns with no noticeable effect so then I increased the idle on the main idle screw and got it to idle at around 1100 rpm. Seems to be ok now, I'll have to check the plugs later.

      I'm still open for suggestions.

            Bread tie syncronization

Is very good to get the carbs close so it will idle good enough to allow adjusting when running.

If you have not sync'ed the carbs w/merc stick or vac gauges you will be pleasantly surprised how much better it will run.
