ok guys i am replacing my coils and i need to know what type of coils our bikes have i am looking at the accel coils for my bike but there Two types -- one for point and inductive electronic ignitions (most popular) and one for CDI systems so which one do i need to get thank you

anybody got the part number of the accel ones and a good place to buy them the only place i have found was dennis kirk i just want to get the right ones since my bro had a problem with them when he bought them for his bike79 yamaha xs1100f standard

Accel lists them as part #140403, 3 Ohm dual coil kit. Link to catalog, look at page 11:

ok guys i am looking at a set of coilds on ebay right now item number 4653948605 can somebody look at these and see if they will work on my bike and if they will what i have to remove to make them work so i dont fry nothing79 yamaha xs1100f standard

You can't tell by his description. He says it's for a CDI system, not for Points Systems!? HE may or may not know what he's calling a CDI! Our systems use a TCI, which is just a transistorized "points" system, and uses much higher Ohm levels, 1.5 to 3.0 ohms depending on what year. A TRUE CDI system uses around 0.7ohms!! That WILL FRY THE TCI!!!
You can PM the seller and see if he can tell you a model number off of the coils, and then check the Accel site to see IF they are the 0.7 ohm series or the 3.0 ohm series!
