    Hi All

    After some advice?

I have got a set of carbs from what I think are from an xs1100s

I have managed to obtain new parts like the main jets, float valves and seats

pilot jets. mixture screws with springs, flat washer, and o rings, float bowl gaskets,

and so on, but my problem is that, shouldn't there be a blanking plug in the float chamber

    that covers the pilot jet?

I have just been to Fowlers in Bristol and they did confirm that the carbs I've got

are from an xs1100s, and looking at their diagrams there is no blanking plug fitted

    Is this correct? or wrong?

    Can anybody help?

    Cheers

    Gaffer,

    Easy way to tell is:

If your pilot jet has a hair-thin orifice on the seat end, you need blanking plugs.

If your pilot jet has a large orifice at the slotted end, no blanking plugs.

Thanks Randy that makes sense (havn't delved into Carbs myself YET!!)

Was given this info which kinda tallys up to what you say and the 2 pieces of info together makes it Crystal clear

The 'E' and 'F' model carbs have pilot jet blanked 'cos the pilot jet gets it's fuel from the main jet.

After that the main jet tubes changed & don't have a supply port, so the pilot gets it's supply from the float bowl, so they should NOT be plugged.

So I reckon that means that 'Sport' carbs are OK without blanking plugs.
