      What a ride

This is a ride that fascinates me, I really want to attempt it some day. I have to get a different seat for my bike before I attempt any long distance riding, and some luggage. A couple of hundred miles on mine and the butt is ready to pack it in. I just re-read some of the stuff on your MSN page and realized again that you did this in 10 days. That is ONE ZERO days. That is awesome. For the SCMA qualifications you only have to do it in 21. Were you shooting to get it done that quick due to days off from work, or did it just work out that way?

I planned to do the round trip in 14 days from the begining. It just worked out that way that I was able to achieve it. I didnt want to be away from home for a month so I planned on maxing myself and the bike out every day. The first 3 days were the toughest but after getting into the routine it wasn't too bad. The ride was a monumental achievment for me and Im still feeling the glow and awe of the acomplishment when I think of it.

First bike was an: 1978 XS1100
        Second bike is an FJR1300.
        Now I'm restoring a '79 XS1100.

          Rush

Hadn't heard from you for a while. What did you find wrong with the bike after you got back?

I got the bike back and after some recovery time I finally tore into her. I found a bearing in the tranny that was worn and sloppy. I paid a friend to pull the motor and now its sitting on a bench waiting to be taken to the shop where it will be replaced. Its been a long process, not because I dont know what Im doing, but because work has been the new priority. Once the bad bearing has been replaced it wont take me long to put her back together, its just finding the time to get the motor to the shop.
            How are you doing?
