I did my inside fuel tank with a POR 15 motorcycle fuel tank kit. There's 3 ingredients - a cleaning solution, a metal curer(super rust killer) and a coating. All non-toxic and the cleaner and curer are water soluble. The whole process is easy and simple with a brilliant end result. The inside coating is a hard silvery grey substance. You can do 2 tanks. Cheap enough too.

I just did mine as well. I ordered the Motorcycle fuel tank kit. It worked great but it didn't seem like there was enough product for my Standard tank. I called them and the guy told me to just use simple green or similar to degrease if I felt there wasn't enough Marine Clean in the Kit So I bought a couple of Gallons of Purple Power at AutoZone and Did the 2nd cleaning with that cut 1 to 1. I was also concerned about having enough POR 15 to do the tank and the guy told me that the Motorcycle kit was good for up to a 4 gallon tank. The standard tank is right at 5 gals so I ordered another can of sealer and a quart of metal ready just to be sure I had enough. The Metal Ready is reusable.
Next time I do a tank I'll order enough sealer for the size tank I'm doing use a degreaser for the Auto parts store Wally world or wherever and probably reuse the Metal Ready.Russ Neal

Hi Russ, I did a 'standard' tank too, to get good use of the sealer you can heat the tank so it's warm inside. The sealer then runs nicely. After coating, I still had a fair bit left over. My kit had a litre of marine clean, so that was plenty. I strained it and kept most of it. It's good stuff for cleaning under the fenders too
