    the fear of ROD
.. you know your bike is getting dated when they start making cruisers that will kick the crap out of your fastest production bike of 25 years ago.. it's quite disconcerning when you think about it.. now myself and others will no doubt spend lots of time, money and effort trying to save face by making our bikes faster in an atempt to hang with these guys on the new bikes.. it reminds me of a time when the harley guys were trying to make there bikes fast enough to hang with us(ok that wasn't very long ago but it gives my stupid story depth).. the good news is you can go faster for half the price of a vrod, just buy an FZ1 or you can just sit back, enjoy the ride you have and be comfortable with the fact that none of those cruisers will ever enjoy having the title Worlds Fastest Production Motorcycle
.. the dyno sheet is of some old chicks new vrod before the ecm upgrade, she doesnt look like she can handle the bike now and she wants to make it faster!? the numbers: HP=106.63 @8200rpms, torque= 72.48 ft lbs @7200 rpms.. look how long and straight those curves are, just discusting isn't it..
.. ok i'm finished, let the hate mail begin

Ahhh.... the wonders of computer controlled fuel injection.
    Until it breaks.

I'll stick with carbs. I may convert my XS to pionts and get rid of the TCI box. Ultimate reliable.

Think any Vrods will be ridden in 25 years like the XS is?

Well, my question is always... How fast do you NEED to go? IMHO, if it can cruise at a good speed, be comfortable, and get there in one piece, thats most important.

Don't get me wrong, I like speed as much as the next guy.

Am I just getting old? Hell, im only 40, life just started for me!

Ahh, forget it, get me a Hayabusa and lets roll!!!

The Hayabusa (Perigrine Falcon in Japanese) is now obsolete, real speed fanatics will buy the new ZZR1400 which will be available in blue or "radar evading" grey!. When and where will this all end?

Good lord, a 1400cc sport bike! That is insane.

Think it's supposed to be a "sport tourer". Fairing does look kind of ample. Could this mean 1500 to 2000 mile days for those iron of butt?

I know I'm to old to be comfortable sitting like that.
Just give me my XS1100 with a good seat, and I'll show you mile per day.

Know what you mean Ray, but the guy is a bit tucked and could straighten up some.

What you can't see in the pic is the wave brake rotors and the four (!) headlights. Wonder if the dark grey paint option is really stealthy to radar like Bike magazine claims.

.. that ZZR is a pretty sweet looking bike, it looks fast. i'm kind of a tuning fork guy my self though, i cant weight to see what Yamaha's version of this would be

Think any Vrods will be ridden in 25 years like the XS is?
.. yes, within the next 10 years the big plan is to start easing this engine design into all of the models.
.. and carburators are about to be history

You could spend $3,000-$5,000 on your Eleven or simply buy yourself a used V-Max for $5,000 and go beat up on the little lady's V-Rod.The Max,if you stay away from the California model will kill a V-Rod and it's a cruiser and was once the fastest bike on earth,is a Yamaha and if equipped with a Corbin seat is quite comfortable.I have a 96 Max and have did the deed to several V-Rods out on the interstate to the point where there was no doubt who won.I must admit though,a V-Rod makes a lot of power for a twin, but at $20,000 it oughta.
