      i just order the kit and i am going to try to get around to putting it in sometime this winter and then i got to get a new starter silonoid and then maybe we should be ready to get this bike back on the road

        well just got the kit put on and the new starter soilnoid and the bike started right up and it runs like new but it is still charging alittle low so what all parts should i look at for the charging system on that bike with it running it is only charging at battery voltage so i still got a problem but it starts alot better then it did

          Check and see if the ALT on the bike uses brushes. If so, try cleaning the armiture they run on, and check to be sure they are NOT worn out.
          I would then take a VOM and starting at the ALT wires, check all through the system. It could be the reg/rectifier, but they usually don't break. I would also verify ALL the connections and ground wires!! make sure everything is clean, and no resistance through connectors.

              got a used reg off ebay and now all i need is a starter soilnoid and there is one on ebay and hopeful this bike will be back on th road for the spring

                put the new reg on the bike and no chargine problems any more and the bike runs like a dream but now my bro is thinking about buying my dads xs1100 special
