If you see a question you know could you help me out or send me a good link, thanks.
Questions:
Are the home made YICS tool dimensions the same for the xj 750 as they are for the xj 1100?
Anyone know where to get a petcock rebuild kit for the 1982 XJ 750?
Can a get carb rebuild kits for my 750 from somewhere other than parts and more, but with the same low price of $12 a kit?
Can I use rubber cement to patch my boots or should I stick with the RTV stuff? (I found one leaking with the spray trick).
Are Vance and Hines considered high flow exhausts?
Anyone have luck with DYNO JET kits?
Since I have an XJ 750 I don't need to tighten my cam chain right?
Where can I get new rings?
Should I be worried about cruising at 70 to 80mph (~7500rpm) on this bike. I live in Texas and it is hot here. I feel guilty on long trips?
I Got a 1982 XJ 750J shortly after driving my brothers XJ 1100. I know it is not the same, but it was the best I could find. Anyways I am just trying to get some momentum built up so I can make my bike run like it ought to. I am still waiting for the carb rebuild kit to come off backorder so I can fix my leaky needles. I think I ate of the rubber tip with some carb cleaner. I realized my mistake after an overnight soak and some more forum reading. So far I have cleaned the carbs, runs 150% better now, but it still has room for improvement. I have yet to sink up the carbs. First i need to check the float levels, but two of my drain screws have striped heads. (I just got an impact driver and am going to try it soon.) I have come across a few problems. I sprayed some water on my pipes and it looks like my #2 is not firing. I still need to check spark, igniter, coils etc. Just recently my bike started dieing on the road. Twice so far. Like it is out of gas. I think this is do to an electrical problem, I have heard one other speak of this already. The cause may be my cheap fix. I found that my tachometer wires were pulled off and cut to short to reach their proper locations. So I took some wire (twice as bike and three times longer than needed to connect them). My tac works fine and it took like two or three weeks for the problem to appear. Do you think my poor wiring may be the cause. (I did not have access to a soldering iron and twisted on the connections. ) Should I go back and solder them. Any help you guys could throw my way is appreciated. I have already read much of the information on the forums and am on my way to fixing the problem, but if you think there might be something that I am missing please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
