Ok, thx. Makes sense now. Charging systems typically won't make enough voltage to charge at idle, and combined with a bad battery that is the issue, IMO.

Exchange the battery.

His girlfriend gave me the go ahead for a new battery.Napa had one for $57.00 and need no core. Charged it and will see how it goes. A bit smaller size than the Walmart one.

Just an update-The guy rode the bike since he got his license.He rode it in the rain and when it got cold stored the bike briefly in my storage unit, until he decided he didn't want to pay rent anymore and took it home.We had to work one Saturday, and he said it was giving him issues.He broke down close to his home and my boss stopped to help him.Turns out he was low on gas and some crud must have been in the tank and screwed up my carb cleaning job.Today at work he started it and it made a weird tapping noise.I think he might have a loose cam chain but he said he thinks it will be OK to ride.Guarantee he is doing more harm than good riding it like that.
