  • Yamaha Fazer?

Is someone familiar with the Yamaha Fazer? Don't know what year, but it looked similar to a V-max, a little more "sportbikish" and with a 5 Valve inline four? Pretty big bike. Just curious, I saw one for $2000.

i remember them. I belive the shared the same drivetrain as the Yamaha Radian. I have rode a Radian before, and it was a nice bike.

      Fazer

I was told a good working 700 cc fazer , liquid cooled 5 valve, chain drive would blow the doors off an XS , not my statement but that what i was told at a bike rally by an old timer. It looked more like an r1 than a XS, i talked to the owner and (she) said it was really fast and conered like a dream! Thats my only knowledge on this subject lol ........................MITCH

The fazer has the same engine as the maximX. I read somewhere that it is a nice engine, but it likes to be ridden hard, as the power band is a tad higher than our bikes. There was a comparaison between the XJ750 and the XJ750X when it came out, and they said that it was a lot more powerful.

My father had a 750 Fazer back when I was 18, it was a nice bike & he liked riding it. Sold it awhile back, wish I had my license back then it would of been my first bike. He said it was quick & handled pretty good.

Did Yamaha make one bigger than a 750? Maybe it's just me, but this seemed pretty big. The carbs also appeared to be on their side compared to the XS.

The Fazer had the same engine as the FZ570 but with a smaller boar to get it by the 700cc tariff of the time. As I recall if shared a lot of body parts and such with the low powered Raidan.

The Maxim X was also 5 valves per cylinder but its cylinders weren't canted forward like the FZ and the Fazer. The few that I've ridden went like stink. I'd be happy to have one in my stable.

There's one on ebay right now, an '86. That is definitely the bike. I really like how it looks, but I'm sure it's not worth 2K.
