  • 82 XJ550 Maxium itty bitty o-ring

Been fighting the carbs on my "free" XJ550. I need the tiny mixture screw O-rings. Son-in-law seems to have figured they were not really needed when he did the carbs. If anyone has a part number or source, I would appreciate it.

If they are anything like the XS Mikuni pilot screw O-rings, the $5 nitrile O-ring kit from Harbor Freight should have them.

Harbor freight o-ring kit had right size o-rings. Now, where do I find the itty-bitty, 5mm flat washer? Orings no good with out them. Search for Mikuni parts hasn't come up with much.

That's them! My next move was to see what other bike used the same parts but you beat me to it. THANKS! I actually found the itty-bitty SS washers at my "real" bolt shop. The OEM ones have a slight bevel to "cup" the o-ring but I don't think is going to be big problem using flat washer. Don't plan on twisting those screws around much.

Welcome........the SuzyGS used the same BS34 II series as the 80-XJ Yammies. NA from Yammy, both were still available from Suzy some three yrs. back.

The saga (and pain) continues. Got right washer and o rings. carefully cleaned and recleaned carbs before assembly. Float levels correct. Installed YCIS eliminator. Fired it up. Dialed in carbs within a couple inches of each other. Idled great, reved up great. Didnt ride it cause battery was toast. Got new battery. Fired it up. #1 pipe cold. Pull plug, have spark. Changed all plugs out to new NGK. Quick compression check showed 120#ish. When you hit about 5k, and full throttle, all cylinders come on board and it runs great. Crap in #1 carb still?

                        Solved

Pulled carbs. Removed #1 float bowl. Pilot jet fell out with it. Didn't tighten it when I did the carbs. Reassemble, fire her up. All four on station at idle. Suit up and take it out. Ran great, idled great. Life is good!!
